Across the Atlantic, in Tangier, Morocco, awakens in her room surrounded by books. Sensing Adam's despair, she immediately travels to Detroit to be with him. Their reunion is tender and passionate; they drive through the empty night streets of the "Motor City," listen to music, play chess, and reconnect. However, their idyll is shattered by the arrival of Ava (Mia Wasikowska), Eve's wild and uncontrollable younger sister. Unlike the sophisticated couple, Ava indulges in reckless behavior, leading to a tragic accident that forces the lovers to flee to Tangier. There, they visit their old mentor, Christopher Marlowe (John Hurt), the legendary playwright and secret author of Shakespeare's works, who is dying from poisoned blood. As the film ends, Adam and Eve, starving and facing their own potential demise, spot a pair of young lovers and approach them, suggesting a return to their most primal instincts.

Creada por el propio Jim Jarmusch junto a su banda y el músico holandés Jozef van Wissem , la música mezcla el drone doom , el rock psicodélico y acordes de laúd tradicional.
